Description
This pair of chairs is designed in the Louis XVI Neoclassical style. Each chair features a T-shaped backrest with a curved, padded top rail supported by a shaped splat. The splat is decorated with a central carved circular medallion. The frame is constructed from dark-stained hardwood, consistent with mahogany. The seats are box-upholstered in red velvet with a characteristic notch at the rear to accommodate the back splat. The chairs are supported by four tapered, fluted legs, with the front leg joins accented by carved square blocks featuring a rosette motif. 34″ H x 17″ W x 17.5″ D. This lot is located offsite in Rumson, New Jersey and will be available for PICKUP ONLY. Specific pickup instructions including the address and available pickup dates and times will be provided shortly after the auction.
Condition report:
The wood frames exhibit minor surface abrasions, scuffs, and small dings consistent with age and use. Both chairs appear structurally stable. The red velvet upholstery on the seats shows visible signs of wear, including crushing of the pile and several scattered spots and stains. The upholstery on the top rails is in better condition.
