Description
Frederick Tordoff (New Jersey / England, 1939-2022). Watercolor and gouache on toned paper, RMS Titanic Maiden Voyage. The work features a dual-composition format presented within a double-aperture cream mat. The larger primary painting depicts the RMS Titanic departing on its maiden voyage on April 10, 1912. The smaller companion image to the right provides a detailed view of a White Star Line funnel alongside the company’s red swallowtail house flag with a central white star. The main composition is signed in the lower right and titled in the lower left. Sight: 24.5 x 9 in. Frame: 16 x 32 in.

Condition report:
The paper exhibits uniform light toning and discoloration across both images. The frame shows scattered minor chips, scuffs, and losses to the gilt and red finish, particularly at the corners and along the outer edges. The blue backing board and its tape show minor wear and some lifting at the edges.
