American School, 19th Century. Watercolor and gouache on paper, the Nantucket Whaler “Lima” entering the Port of Havre. Sight: 21 x 23 in. Frame: 26 x 29 in.

Condition report:
The paper exhibits a notable circular stain in the upper right sky quadrant and scattered foxing throughout the composition. The frame shows significant condition issues, including multiple structural cracks and large areas of missing gilded gesso and molding. The reverse is sealed with a modern grey backing board.
