Description
A large Imperial Vienna style porcelain covered urn of ovoid form, resting on a pedestal foot. The central body features a wide frieze in a deep maroon ground, decorated with a hand-painted classical mythological scene. The figures are rendered in a grisaille style to simulate stone relief. The urn is heavily embellished with gilded borders, including wave scrolls, foliate swags, and geometric patterns. The two gilded handles are modeled as winged female busts. The matching lid is topped with a gilded pinecone-style finial. The piece utilizes bolt-up construction, with a central metal rod and nut assembly visible through the interior and the underside of the foot. The underside of the base bears an impressed bindenschild mark. 19″ H x 12″ W x 9″ D.

Condition report:
There is minor wear to the gilding on high-contact areas, such as the handles and finial. The underside of the foot shows accumulated grime and shelf wear consistent with age. No chips, cracks, or visible repairs are noted.
