Glen Loates (Canadian, b. 1945). Offset lithograph on heavy paper, Giant Squid and Pisces VI, 1987. The work depicts a deep-sea encounter between two giant squids and the Pisces VI submersible, which features the National Geographic Society logo on its hull. Signed in gold ink at the lower left and numbered 79/500. Printed copyright information and date are visible in the lower-left corner of the image. Sight: 20 1/4 x 26 1/2 in. Sheet: 25 3/4 x 32 in.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
Good condition. There is a distinct vertical area of yellowing and toning located in the center of the right white margin. Minor handling creases are present along the edges of the sheet.
