Description
Group of three production and premiere photographs from the 1977 Columbia Pictures film The Deep. The collection includes two black and white gelatin silver prints and one color photograph. The black and white images document the film’s premiere and feature actors Robert Shaw and Nick Nolte, actress Jacqueline Bisset, director Peter Yates, and producer Peter Guber in formal attire. The color photograph is a large-format crew and cast group shot taken on location in front of a sign identifying the production as the world’s largest underwater set. 8 3/8" H x 10 3/8" W x 3/4" D.
From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940–2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
Condition report:
The color photograph exhibits uniform age-related yellowing characteristic of 1970s color prints. The black and white photographs are well-preserved with no visible fading or foxing. The silver-toned metal frames show light surface scuffing and minor handling wear consistent with age.
