Lot 204:
Sold for: $175
Description
Matched pair of Bohemian vases featuring cobalt blue cased glass cut to clear. Each vase is designed with a trumpet neck and flared, ruffled, scalloped rims. The form tapers to a bulbous body and rests on a circular pedestal foot. Decorative techniques include circular punty cuts and almond-shaped panels that reveal clear glass, which are further enhanced with acid-etched or wheel-engraved scrolling floral and foliate motifs. Hand-painted gold gilt accents the rims and body with scrolling flourishes and borders. Unsigned. 10″ H x 4″ diameter.
Location: 15D
Condition report:
Both vases exhibit widespread wear and loss to the gold gilt decoration. The scalloped rims show minor roughness and very small flea-bite chips. No visible cracks are present in the glass.
