Description
10 Dell Publishing Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories comic books dating from January 1948 to August 1949. The collection contains issue numbers 88 (Vol. 8, No. 4), 90 (Vol. 8, No. 6), 94 (Vol. 8, No. 10), 98 (Vol. 9, No. 2), 99 (Vol. 9, No. 3), 101, 102 (Vol. 9, No. 6), 104 (Vol. 9, No. 8), 106, and 107 (Vol. 9, No. 11). These Golden Age publications feature interior artwork and scripts by Carl Barks.
Each issue is constructed of stapled newsprint with color-printed paper covers. The cover illustrations depict characters such as Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie in various comedic and seasonal situations. The verso of several issues displays promotional material and order forms for Disney-themed books and subscriptions.
The covers are marked with the title WALT DISNEY’S COMICS AND STORIES 10c and feature a circular logo reading A DELL COMIC alongside the name DELL in a rectangular cartouche. Issue 99 bears a purple ink stamp reading NOV 12 1948 and initials AK in pencil. Handwritten pencil notations of 126 are visible on the front covers of issues 88, 90, 94, and 101.
Condition report:
Overall condition is Good to Very Good. The newsprint and covers show significant tanning and browning throughout. Visible defects include spine splitting on issues 99 and 107, with the front cover of issue 107 partially detached at the upper staple. General wear includes cover creasing, edge chipping, blunted corners, and surface soiling. Several issues bear stamped or pencil markings on the front covers.
