Description
Arts & Crafts 3-panel folding screen constructed of stained glass and wood. The decorative panels display vertical columns of textured yellow slag glass, bordered by burgundy and orange slag glass panes. Green diamond and triangular accents punctuate the central field. Each panel is capped with a rectangular header of marbled slag glass, with two panels in blue and white tones and the central panel in green and yellow tones. The lead caming secures the glass panes within an oak frame. The panels are joined by full-length metal piano hinges. The wooden stiles and rails exhibit a medium-brown finish with mortise and tenon joinery. 70″ H x 76 1/2″ W x 2″ D.
Condition report:
The screen is in fair antique condition with notable damage to the glass and frame. A significant star-pattern impact crack is present in one upper corner burgundy slag glass pane. Smaller cracks are visible in one green diamond pane, and minor hairline cracks are present in several slag glass border panes. The wooden frame shows significant surface wear, including multiple scuffs, deep scratches, and areas of finish loss along the vertical stiles and bottom horizontal rails. White oxidation residue is present on the lead caming. The metal hinges exhibit surface patina consistent with age.
