Description

American Primitive wood hutch table, late 18th to mid-19th century. The piece features a circular, two-board solid wood top with a dark, naturally aged patina. The top is designed to pivot on wooden pins, allowing it to transition between a table surface and a high chair back. The tabletop is missing its original wooden pins and is detached from the base. 25" H x 36" diameter.

From the Woodstock, New York estate of music manager Albert Grossman, best known for managing artists including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and Peter, Paul and Mary.

Condition report:

The table is in a condition consistent with a heavily used primitive utility piece. The circular top displays multiple dark ring stains, surface scratches, and a visible split separating the joint of the two boards. The tabletop is currently without wooden pins and is detached from the base. The hutch base shows significant wood loss, splintering, and deterioration to the trestle feet. Several old nail repairs are visible at the joinery. The overall surface has a deep, uneven patina with general abrasions and small chips to the wooden edges.
