Description
Near pair of industrial style table lamps constructed from repurposed antique printing rollers. The bases utilize salvaged wood cores with intricate metal ornamentation. The lamps feature contrasting designs; the left base is wrapped in dark metal relief floral and scrollwork bands, while the right base is a traditional wallpaper printing roller with patterns formed by hundreds of small metal pins and strips. Each lamp is mounted on a circular patinated metal plinth and topped with a tapered cream fabric drum shade. 33" H x 17" shade diameter.
From the Woodstock, New York estate of music manager Albert Grossman, best known for managing artists including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and Peter, Paul and Mary.
Condition report:
The wooden roller cores exhibit age-related drying cracks and splits consistent with salvaged antique material. There are minor losses to the fine metal pins and decorative relief elements on both rollers. The metal plinth bases show a dull, uneven patina with minor surface oxidation and light scratching. The fabric shades show a few small scattered dark spots and light surface soiling. The electrical components are in working order.
